Ocoee Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team traveled to Rhea County Thursday and came home with a win 30-27.

The Colts were led by Daniel Clark with eight points and nine rebounds. Sean Conway tossed in seven and pulled down eight boards. Alex White netted six points and one rebound. Elijah Haynie dropped in five to help the Colts and grabbed a pair of rebounds while Luke Rymer laid in two points and pulled down a trio rebounds. Tyler Kellar rounded out the scoring with two points and grabbing four rebounds. Ty King and Hagan Franklin helped on the defense with a rebound each.

The undefeated Colts (6-0) will be at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Cleveland Middle.

Lady Colts 46,

Rhea County 11

The Ocoee Middle sixth-grade Lady Colts improved to 10-2 Thursday night by defeating Rhea Central’s seventh grade 46-11.

OMS used a strong defensive effort to lead to a balanced scoring attack. Leading the way was Jillian Walker with 10 points followed by CyCy White with nine. Ali King and E.K. Brown finished with six points each. Laney Houston and Olivia Williams had four and three points respectively. Chipping in with two points apiece were Halle Hughes, Mya Patel, Jade Mayo, and Savannah Thompson.

The Lady Colts return to action Saturday against Cleveland Middle at 10 a.m. at OMS.

Lady Raiders 43,

Lady Cougars 18

Jamiyah Person scored 11 points and led the Cleveland Middle School varsity Lady Raiders to a 43-18 routing of Dalton Middle Thursday night.

After a sluggish first quarter ending in a score of 6-6, the Lady Raiders woke up and set the floor on fire with their aggressive team play for the remainder of the game. Dalton failed to get within reach as the Lady Raiders exploded both offensively and defensively to score 31 points in the second half versus only 8 for DMS.

“Tonight we had a total team effort. It is nice to have so many players wanting to contribute. I know that I can choose from several on any given night and they will put out the effort and intense play that I want. Jackie and Bre are stepping up along with Courtney and Sarah Beth. I am pleased with their team play,” commented Lady Raiders’ coach Kelli Fulton.

Hallea McClendon added seven markers to Person’s 11 and BreAsia Ware and Jaclyn Griffith contributed six points each. Jenna Scoggins tossed in five while Shawnia Anderson chipped in four.

The Lady Raiders will face conference rival Cherokee Middle at home Thursday.
