Lewis Hyde, 85, of Cleveland, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the home of his son.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bertha Hill Hyde and Jim Hyde; his wife, Loretta Anderson Hyde; and one sister, Louise Murray Farmer.

He worked at Hardwick’s Foundry for many years and also owned and operated Hyde Construction, which evolved into tearing down houses, hauling gravel and dirt for folks and laying pads for trailers. He just enjoyed working.

He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include two sons: Charles Hyde and his wife, Christine, of Cleveland and Michael Hyde of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Wanda Lynn Hyde of Cleveland, Betsy Ann Stewart of Cleveland and Steven Ray Hyde of Riceville; three great-grandchildren: Kayla Nicole Stewart, Joshua Lee Stewart, and Emily Faith Stewart; six sisters: Myrtle Harris of Cleveland, Inez Harris of Etowah, Jeanette Thompson and her husband, Beecher, of Madisonville, Geraldine Hines and her husband, Bill, of Cleveland, Imogene Firestone and her husband, Bobby, of Athens, and Evanelle Reece and her husband, Edward, of Riceville; two brothers: Richard Hyde of Cleveland and James Junior Hyde and his wife, Shirley, of Cleveland; a nd several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Marvin Carr and Benny Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Delano Cemetery with Ricky Hyde, Stevie Hyde, Edward Reece, Jerry Cavett, Jerry Tolin and Robert Bagley serving as pallbearers. Steven Ray Hyde will be an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
