Jason Dewayne “Ping” Hampton, 33, of Athens, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland and resident of Athens for the past 17 years, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobby and Betty Hyat;t and aunt, Joyce Case.
He was of the Baptist faith, a painter by trade and an employee of Go-Green Construction Co. He also enjoyed drawing and art work.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hampton of Athens; son, Jeremiah Hampton of Etowah; daughter, Jordan Hampton of Etowah; mother and stepfather, Jeanie and Ernest “Ernie” Harris of Athens; adopted father and stepmother, Eddie and Tonya Hampton of Cleveland; father-in-law and stepmother, Eddie and Bonnie Hyde of Niota; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margie and Clyde Burns of Niota; grandmother-in-law, Reecie Frisbie of Niota; brother, Eddie Steven Hampton of Athens; half sister, Brooklyn Johnson of Cleveland; half brothers: Stone Hampton of Cleveland, Joshua Harris and Justin Harris, both of Chattanooga and Jessie Harris of Scott, Ala.; aunt and uncle, Ray and Kim Browder of Cleveland; uncle, Jerry Hyatt of Cleveland; aunt and uncle: Cheryl and Gene Delk of Cleveland; and cousins: Scottie Browder and Mark Hyatt, both of Cleveland.
The funeral was held Thursday, Nov. 9, 2010, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Cook officiating.
Graveside service was held today, in Union McMinn Cemetery. Pallbearers were family and friends.
