Winfred A. Key, 83, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed carpenter before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Shelton Key, as well as the mother of his children, Havel Ceatta Franks Key; two sons: Charles Alvin Key and Timothy Marvin Key; one daughter, Lisa Ruth Bullington; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Angie I. Key, of Charleston; children: Lavenda Sue Bandy of Cleveland, Marian Lea Gamble and husband, Larry, of Cleveland, Owen “Huleo” Key and wife, Mable, of Charleston, and Dennis Key and wife, Penny, of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Key of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Blankenship officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Reliance concluding with a white dove release ceremony. J.M. Brown, Jeremy Brown, David Paul Lawson, Michael Harvey, Marcus Cochran and Dennis “D.J.” Key Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
