Mildred Millican Allen, 94, of Cleveland, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at a local health care facility, surrounded by members of her family.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Atheline Henson Millican and William McDowson Millican. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, the Rev. Andrew Jack Allen, an ordained bishop with the Church of God; three sisters; and three brothers.
She, along with her husband, pastored for more than 60 years, serving the Church of God in many states. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She enjoyed baking, sewing, decorating and teaching Bible classes. She was a member of Westmore Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Naomi Allen Voorhees and her husband, Charles, of Whittier, Calif.; son, the Rev. Virgil T. Allen and his wife, Dr. Patricia Allen, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Donna Allen Cone and her husband, Alton, Steven T. Allen and his wife, Laura, Phillip E. Allen and his wife, CaSondra, Ronda Voorhees Costantino and her husband, Donn, Jill Voorhees Kiefer, and Paul Voorhees and his wife, Marnie; great-grandchildren: Jared Ortiz, Devin Ortiz, Nicholas Costantino, Marley Cook, Noah Cook, Ashton Cone, Nicholas Allen, Zachary Allen, Chandler Allen and Carissa Cossey; her brother, Jackson Millican and his wife, Ernestine, from Shreveport, La.; and many nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service was conducted at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2011, from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with pastors Virgil T. Allen and Wendell Smith officiating.
Graveside service and Interment will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CST from the Helen Crigger Cemetery, 246 Beaver Road, Munford, TN 38058. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and other family members.
The family received friends today from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
