The Colts grabbed a 25-5 opening period lead thanks to a smothering pressing defense and took a 31-9 advantage into the locker room at the half.
All 11 colts got into the scoring column with Cole Copeland leading the way with 10 and Bryce Nunnelly helping out with eight. Cooper Melton tossed in a half dozen, while Brady Swafford netted five and Dakota Murphy four.
Ocoee will take to the court again Monday at Cleveland Middle School.
Lake Forest drops Chilhowee
The Lake Forest Middle School boys basketball teams improved their records with wins over Chilhowee Thursday.
The eighth-grade boys whipped Chilhowee 45-27 to run their record to 6-4, while the seventh-grade team won 48-10 for its fourth win in 10 games.
In Thursday’s eighth-grade win, Ty Morgan scored 12 points and Jacob Hicks and Kiran Allen added eight. Matthew Maynard had nine rebounds and Hicks eight.
In the seventh-grade win, Tyrell Pitner scored 15 points and contributed five steals. Silas Pittenger added 10 points, while Cody Flowers collected six steals and three assists.
Earlier, the Lake Forest eighth-grade boys dropped a tough overtime decision to Rhea Central, 42-37, with the seventh grade registering a 26-20 win.
Morgan scored 10 points to pace the eighth grade in the extra-period setback. Rashad Marshall hit three 3-pointers for nine points and Tucker Maroon got six. Maynard had 10 rebounds.
In the seventh-grade win, Brandon Thompson scored 15 and Josh Eley added 10 rebounds.
CMS downs OMS
Cleveland Middle downed rival Ocoee Middle in an eighth-grade boys basketball game Thursday by a 48-35 tally.
Leading in the effort for the Colts was Daniel Clark with nine points. Luke Rymer netted six points and led the Colts in rebounding with six boards. Sean Conway, Alex White, and Ty King chipped in four points each. Helping on the boards was Hagan Franklin with four.
The Colts will be across town Tuesday evening, taking on Lake Forest at 7:30.
