Jack Ronald Speer, 59 of Old Fort, and formerly of Double Springs, Ala., entered into rest on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011.

He was born on June 28, 1951, in Guin, Ala.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Speer.

Survivors include his loving wife, Retia Speer; father, C.B. Speer of Crandall, Ga.; sons: John (Marsha) Speer of Old Fort, Don (Stephanie) Speer and James (Meaghan) Speer, both of Cleveland; sisters: Lanette (Billy) Guyton of Riceville and Lavann (Larry) Garren and Sandra Miller, all of Cleveland; special aunt, Tommie Rowe. He was “Paw Paw” to Emily, Starla, Josh, John Travis, Bryson, and a new addition arriving in April to the family, Presley Speer; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011.

Interment was at Houston United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ben Knight and Kevin Wilson officiated.

Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs was in charge of arrangements.
