Rosa Lee Douglas, 80, of Etowah, passed away Saturday Jan. 15, 2011, at an Etowah hospital.
She was a member of Mount Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah, where she accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully in the church on the usher board, in the choir, and enjoyed her church missionary society work. She had a great love for growing flowers, cooking, reading, and was very proud of family.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Roosevelt and Alberta Harrison; five brothers: Theodore, Franklin, Raymond, James and Berlee Harrison; and two sisters: Cora and Betty Jo Harrison.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra L. Harrison of Etowah; two grandsons: Troy Harrison and Jeremey Harrison, both of Etowah; one brother, Johnny Harrison of Cleveland; three sisters: Mary Frances Brown, and Drucilla Christine Jackson, both of Etowah, and Gloria Hammonds of Charleston; two sisters-in-law: Marynell Douglas and Rosa (Joseph) Armstrong, all of Etowah; stepchildren: John (Ann) Boyd of Calhoun, Greg Mayfield and Chuck Melton, both of Athens; one aunt, Oggie McDermott of Athens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Mount Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Etowah with the Rev. Joe Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery in Etowah.
Visitation by friends will begin after noon Wednesday at M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home, 502 Congress Parkway, Athens.
