According to Bob Gault, media coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday on the 2700 block of South Lee Highway.
An unknown subject driving a red truck, possibly a Chevrolet, crashed into the back of a Bradley County school bus.
Gault said witnesses on the scene reported the truck sustained significant damage to its front end, but still managed to flee the scene.
There was one student on the bus, along with the bus driver and a bus attendant at the time of the crash but no one was injured, according to Bradley County Schools transportation supervisor Gary Austin.
“The damage to the back of the bus is very minor, the appearance just doesn’t look that good. The bumper is tilted upward and bent slightly,” said Austin.
The driver of the red pickup truck was last seen heading toward the McDonald area.
Bradley County Sheriff’s Office traffic investigator David Oliver is heading the investigation.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is encouraged to call the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office at 728-7300.
