Billy “Bill” Ronald Brown, 72, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.

He was born April 9, 1938, in McMinn County to John Franklin and Lula Jane Brown.

He retired from Hardwick Stove after 32 years of service and from Cleveland Summit after 23 years of service.

He was a well-known softball coach in this area for many years. He was a member of Restoration Bible Fellowship.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Troy Brown and Lee Brown; two sisters: Flora Heifnar and Cora Brown; and one niece, Dorothy Walker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margie Brown of Charleston; children: Ronald Brown and special friend, Lisa Staton and Tonya Brown, both of Charleston; two granddaughters: Crystal Gayle Brown of Knoxville and LaSasha Brown Hyde and husband, Bowdie, of Cleveland; grandson, Joshua Hindman of Cleveland; two great-grandsons: Jade Lee Brown and Braiden Lee Hyde; three brothers: Wayne Brown and wife, Faye, of Decatur; Bob Brown and wife, Evelyn, and Don Brown and wife, Linda, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held today, Jan. 23, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Stansberry officiating.

Interment will follow in Standfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Ross Tarver, Bill Tarver, Kurt Schnabel, Don Ledford II, Anthony Walker and Frank Heifnar serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
