She was a member of Council Baptist Church. She was retired from Cleveland Enamel Plant after 25 years of service. She was a craftsperson who loved to needle point.
She was the daughter of the late John Lawson Whaley and Nancy Ezalee Whaley. She was also preceded in death by her two sons: Charles Ray Moore and Ernest Moore Jr.; five brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard H. Tanksley of Cleveland; five children and spouses: Billy Moore of Heneretta, N.C., Richard H. Tanksley Jr. and Julie Tanksley of Decatur, Ruth Ann Jones of Cleveland, Marvin A. Tanksley and Diane Tanksley, both of Old Fort, and Carolyn Sue Goins and Randy Goins, both of Cleveland; several loving grandchildren; several loving great-grandchildren; one sister, Margie Keener of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Keith Watson and Roger Wagner officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Jamie Tanksley, Anthony Kemper, Richie Tanksley, John Delk, Tyler Tanksley and Matthew Woodward will serve as pallbearers. Donnie Tanksley and Wesley Gates will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
