OK. It’s bad that Valentine’s Day is on a Monday this year. I’m a guessin’ most folks are going to celebrate the day before — on Sunday, the 13th!

Nope, it really doesn’t have the same impact as Friday, the 13th, but hey, there could be overflow if you know what I mean.

(Oh, my goodness! I just pulled an Aunt Tillie! You see, my Aunt Tillie, whose name has been changed because I would never hear the end of it if she ever knew I was revealing this annoying part of her personality, uses the phrase, “You know what I mean” all the time, if you know what I mean! But that’s another story.)

Back to “everybody” celebrating Valentine’s Day, Monday, Feb. 14, on Sunday, Feb. 13th!

You could do that. You could also reserve that day to celebrate: Employee Legal Awareness Day, Get a Different Name Day, Madly in Love with Me Day, Man Day — which is a day set aside for men to celebrate their masculinity. Aren’t they always doing that? Or, yep, it’s that time of year again — Grammy Awards Day! Or not! Celebrating Valentine’s Day this year is looking better and better, now that I realize what my alternatives are.

“Everybody” is probably gonna havta be back at work on Monday which is a really bad way to start the work week anyway. I really don’t know why we can’t start the week on Tuesdays so Mondays wouldn’t be so, well, so Mondayish! Anyway, Mondays are always bad to celebrate a holiday — unless you happen to be off work that day. Anybody out there got Monday, Valentine’s Day off this year? I didn’t think so!

But, before we move onto how to celebrate Valentine’s Day — either Sunday or Monday — this year, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the other “events” or “holidays” that could be commemorated instead of or in lieu of the fabricated “holiday” of Valentine’s Day. All are just as legitimate and some even more poignant than what this day has become known for these days.

Let’s see now, how about celebrating national Have a Heart Day, or maybe Library Lovers Day or League of Women Voters Day? Feb. 14th is also national Donor Day, Ferris Wheel Day and Clean Out Your Computer Day. I’m gonna celebrate this one a little late. I currently have 383 — oops, 384 ... I just got another one — unread e-mails in my Hotmail account. Plus, I have thousands of photos on my computer I have to sort through. Oh, wait a minute. Maybe they don’t mean that kind of “cleaning?” My bad!

In addition, Feb. 14th is also (and in no particular order) Have a Heart Day, Women's Heart Day (kinda like Valentine's Day), national Call-In Single Day (kinda like an anti-Valentine's Day Day), Quirky Alone Day (I am starting to see a pattern here), and, wait for it ... Feb. 14th, believe it or not, is also World Marriage Day!

I can't get away from it!

It's a conspiracy!

Everywhere I turn ...

Personally, I think I am going to hold off all my celebrating ANYTHING until this coming Thursday, Feb. 17. That’s national My Way Day!
