He was the son of the late Lena Hunt Eaton and Archie Eaton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margie K. Eaton; his granddaughter, Christy L. Waters; his sisters: Mary Harold, Katherine Ellis and Viola Perian; and his brothers: Cecil, Charles and Lonnie Eaton.
He worked for a number of years with Tennessee Enamel and the Cleveland Housing Authority. After his retirement, he worked as a self-employed electrician and plumber.
He was one of the oldest electricians to hold a current license in the state of Tennessee. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and tinkering with anything.
He was a 42-year member of the Old Pathway Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and his church.
Survivors include his daughters: Martha J. Moats of Benton, Linda S. Tyler, Carolyn J. Kibble and Sharon A. Thurman and her husband, Rick, all of Cleveland; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his brothers: Henry B. Eaton and his wife, Linda, and Jim Eaton, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. from Old Pathway Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Cooper and Dudley Nichols officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The body may be viewed from 12 until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. today at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
