The strong offensive effort earned the Lady Flames wins of 11-2 and 12-4 over the Lady Bulldogs, ending each game early due to run-rule.
Lee third baseman, Danielle Balough, led Lee with a monster day at the plate, going 6-for-7, with three home runs and eight RBI in the two games combined. The senior also had a double and six runs scored in the two contests.
In the first game, Lee got off to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first inning on Balough’s first blast of the day. They added five more runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, and completed the blowout with a three-run home run from catcher Nicole Rodriguez in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Brittany Balough pitched her first complete game of the season for the Lady Flames, giving up two runs on three hits, and striking out five Lady Bulldogs.
For Tennessee Wesleyan, Brooke Ward provided the offensive production in the first contest with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Starter Brittany Monday and Ashley Miller combined to throw four-plus innings, giving up 10 earned runs on eight hits.
The second contest was much of the same for the Lady Flames, as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Tennessee Wesleyan countered with two runs in the third and sixth innings, but the Lady Flames scored in each of the final 4 innings, to put away another big win.
Savanna Bell, Ana Coscorrosa, and (Danielle) Balough each contributed three hits in the second contest, combining for six runs batted in and seven runs scored.
Caitlin Beshears pitched the entire second game for the Lady Flames, giving up four runs on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked three Lady Bulldogs.
Next up, the Lady Flames will travel to Montgomery, Ala. for the Faulkner University Invitational. The Lee ladies will face four Southern States Athletic Conference opponents at the tournament, including Faulkner University, Spring Hill College, Auburn University-Montgomery, and William Carey University.
