
STUDENT STRUCK — A Bradley Central High School student suffered lower leg trauma this morning as she was exiting her vehicle in the parking lot at the school. According to THP trooper Joe Snipes, the victim was struck by a vehicle pulling into a parking space adjacent to hers. Bradley County Sheriff’s Office school resource officers, Bradley County Emergency Medical Service and Cleveland Fire Department responded to aid the student, who was transferred to a local hospital for treatment. The crash involved a passenger car and a pickup truck and occurred just after 6 p.m.
Initial reports at the scene indicated a non-contact vehicle reportedly cut off one of the vehicles involved, sending the truck crashing into a building occupied by several businesses located on Parker Street.
Cleveland Fire Department responded to the scene and awaited natural gas officials to shut off flow to a damaged meter.
The area was secured and cordoned off by police while investigation and cleanup continued.
Also responding was Bradley County Emergency Medical Service; however, no injuries were reported.
- A 16-foot box trailer was reported stolen from a North Lee Highway address.
According to a report filed by deputy Daniel Marlow, the trailer was owned by TMR.
Kent Copeland believed the trailer was taken sometime after last Thursday.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is in charge of the case.
According to his report, Marlow continues to gather information regarding the trailer, which was valued at $4,000.
- A Neighborhood Watch Program for Gold Point Drive residents, a part of the Tasso community, will be presented tonight at the Bradley County Senior Center.
Sheriff Jim Ruth and Lt. Bob Hancock of the BCSO will be presenting a PowerPoint program and provide security materials as well as explain how residents can set up a Neighborhood Watch in their area.
The program will begin at 7 p.m.
The Senior Center is located on Urbane Road near the YMCA.
