Single parents who attend the two-day seminar will receive a $50 gift basket.
Called “Love’s Cradle,” the classes were announced during a recent meeting of the Bradley County Health Council. The seminar is funded through the United States Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.
Participants in the local seminar must pre-register and be at least 18 years old, plus be the biological parents of the child. Lunch will be provided during the event, which will feature topics like adjusting to parenthood; parenting an infant; building trust; the meaning of marriage; making financial decisions together and working with extended families.
“This seminar teaches expectant, unmarried parents how to create a healthy family,” a health council representative stated. “It presents relationship enhancement skills while focusing on the issues of new parents.”
Information about the seminar may be found at firstthings.org. Pre-registration can be completed by calling 423-267-5383. The seminar is free-of-charge but pre-registration is expected, the council emphasized.
