Lee junior guard, Angela Spann, has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Player of the Week, for the week ending Feb.27. Spann is the first player from the Lady Flames squad to earn Player of the Week honors this season.

For the week, Spann averaged 17.5 points per game and three rebounds per game, helping the Lady Flames to SSAC wins over Shorter University and Columbia College (S.C.). She shot a solid 52-percent from the field, knocking down 12-of-23 shots, 9-of-18 from the three point line. Six of her nine three pointers were key in the Lady Flames 52-51 win over Shorter, Thursday night.

Spann and the Lady Flames travel to Rome, Ga. this week for the annual SSAC Tournament. The Clash of 2011 runs March 2-5, with the Lee ladies entering as the No.1 seed out of the Eastern division.

The Lady Flames’ first contest will be Thursday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Emmanuel College and William Carey University, Wednesday at noon. Thursday’s contest will be played at the Darlington School, with any remaining games played at The Forum in downtown Rome.
