Book and coffee series
The Friends of the Library Association will host its monthly Book and Coffee series March 18 at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. FOLA member Richard “Tiger” Jones will review Kathyrn Stockett’s phenomenal debut novel “The Help.” Jones has reviewed several books in the past years for FOLA and always does a wonderful job. Set in Jackson, Miss., in 1962, the story of Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan is told from the perspectives of three very different women. Phelan, whose dream is to become a writer, is fresh out of college and back at her parents’ home in Jackson, Miss. Her mother’s dream is for her to marry a well-to-do Southern boy with a healthy trust fund. But Skeeter dreams up an idea that could change life in Jackson for the better — quite a dangerous proposition. FOLA provides the coffee at this free event that usually lasts one hour.
