Ralph H. Lovin, 84, of Sweetwater, formerly of Tellico Plains, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Park West Medical Center.

He was a member of Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church, and Vonore Masonic Lodge No. 658, where he was a 32 Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Kerbella Temple.

He served multiple terms on the Monroe County Court. He retired from Martin Marietta, Oak Ridge National Lab. He was an avid raccoon hunter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Whittenburg Lovin; granddaughter, Lorrie Sutton; and parents, Joe and Laura Lovin.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law; Pam and Robert Bettis and Renee and Phil McDaniel, all of Sweetwater; son and daughter-in-law, R.H. and Sharon Lovin of Cleveland; grandchildren and spouse: Jill and Brian Sollors of Atlanta, Mary Beth McDaniel and Jonathan McDaniel, both of Sweetwater; stepgrandchildren and spouses: Shannon and Wayne Grow of Cleveland, Shane McDonald of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Rob and Rachel Bettis of Chattanooga; stepgreat-grandchildren, Whitney and Emily Swafford, both of Cleveland; sister, Juanita Hargis of Knoxville; brother, Wayne Lovin of Tellico Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Miller’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The body may be viewed 30 minutes prior to service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville.
