BENTON — Polk County’s Lady Wildcats were back on the field Wednesday for a softball game against Girls Preparatory School on the Polk County field.

The game was a disappointment for coach Johnny Hayes’ team. The Bruisers toppled the home Polk County girls by an 8-2 count.

Morgan Lane sparked the GPS girls to victory on a cool, damp afternoon, collecting two hits, two walks and two RBIs for the Bruisers.

Sophomore third baseman Sydney Sloan paced the Polk County effort, getting a two-run home run for both scores for the Lady Wildcats.

The Polk County girls return to action today, traveling to Sequoyah for a District 5-AA game this afternoon. Coach Hayes’ team will be playing in the Meigs County tournament this weekend.
