Sadie Gladden Smith, 87, of Cleveland, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 24, 2011, surrounded by her family.

She was a dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for more than 60 years. She loved the Senior Citizen Center in Cleveland, baking, gardening, sewing, and creating beautiful quilts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Etta Gladden; sisters: Pauline Robinson, Hazel Childress and Faye Gladden; and brothers: Hugh Gladden, Herman Gladden and James Raeford Gladden.

Survivors include her daughters: Irma Otis, Deanie Smith Madison and Kathy Chatman; grandchildren: Kimberly Carroll, Kristina Madison Whitman, Linde Otis Balderas and Jamie Rohrbaugh; great-grandchildren: Amber and Jake Carroll, Lucas and Marah Whitman and Marina and Soren Balderas; sisters: Ruth Kadau and Mary Gladden Helms; and brothers: Joe Gladden and Kemp Gladden.

The funeral was held at Heritage Funeral Home, Brainerd Road in Chattanooga, with Pastor Guinn E. Green officiating.

Interment was held at the Collegedale Cemetery.
