Summitt will be the guest speaker for the 11:30 a.m. luncheon on April 11 at the Cleveland Country Club. The golf tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Tickets are still available for the luncheon at a cost of $35 said Trousdale principal Brian Gentry, but the golf tournament has already been filled with a 31 teams (124 players).
“This is the largest tournament we’ve ever had,” said Gentry, who praised the assistance of Cleveland entrepreneur Brenda Lawson in getting coach Summitt to participate. “Brenda is one of our largest contributors,” Gentry said.
Speakers for previous tournaments included Bruce Pearl, former Cleveland sports figures Bob Johnson and Steve Sloan, and UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton.
“We are looking forward to this year’s event,” continued the Trousdale principal. “We have a limited number of luncheon tickets available (about 70), and hope others in the community will decide to join us.”
For more information about the luncheon and golf tournament, you can call Trousdale School at 479-7130.
All proceeds from the tournament and luncheon will help fund Trousdale School activities. The golfers will be playing for prizes and awards in the competitive event on Monday, April 11.
