The mach was played at LP Field in Nashville on a rainy evening.
“It was a great opportunity to see soccer played at the international level in a local venue,” said Cleveland High boys soccer coach John Brose. “It was a record-breaking night for Tennessee because it was the highest attended soccer game in state history with more than 29,500 fans in attendance.”
Andy Byrd, Cleveland High girls soccer coach said “It was an incredible lesson for our kids. With more than 29,000 people cheering for the U.S. team it was almost surreal. The kids were great, the soccer great and the environment was totally soccer. The kids will never forget it.”
The U.S. National Team lost the exhibition match 0-1, but great soccer was played and the U.S. Team was very close to scoring a late goal. The Paraguay defense was able to hold off the late threat.
