Robert Lee Godfrey, 65, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2011.

He was an active member of United Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as usher.

He was a former employee of L and B Appliance and he retired from Lee University.

He was a faithful and devoted husband, father and friend.

He was the son of the late Cleo Samantha Slack and Lloyd Lee Godfrey. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Renee Godfrey; son, James Lloyd Godfrey, grandchildren: Thomas Charles Walker Jr. and Malibu Faith Walker; sister, Geneva Harris; and his brother.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Godfrey; daughters: Marcella Reeves, Christina Walker, Michelle Godfrey, Brittany Rogers and Sondra Miller; son, Charles “Bo” Godfrey; eight grandchildren one great-granddaughter; sister, Ella Mae Slack; brothers: Joe Godfrey, Jackie Slack, Glenn Maney; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Monday, April 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. from the United Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Baker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Tommy Walker, Greg Lamb, Brandon Shields, Christopher Botts, Brandon McNish, Zach Baker, Scott Rogers and Casey Johns serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p. m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the United Missionary Baptist Church.

The Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
