Pilot Club of Cleveland to support Alzheimer’s events

The Pilot Club of Cleveland held its monthly meeting on March 28.

President Wendy Gruber presided over the meeting which was held at The Elks Club. Members present reported a total of 73 volunteer service hours.

Guest speaker for the evening was Denise Wright representing Tri-State Therapeutic Riding Center She was presented a check for $600 by club president Wendy Gruber. Several members volunteered to work at their Classic Horse Show on May 7.

The Pilot Club Executive Committee Board recommended to the members that a “roast” be held in the near future with proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. This was passed unanimously by the membership.

Karen Archer reported applications for Anchor Club service scholarships have been distributed to the local high school clubs. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded in May.

A nominating committee consisting of Alice Hamilton, Barbara Jackson and Karen Archer was selected to present the slate of officers for the upcoming year at the April meeting.

New member Sandra McClintock was inducted into the club by club president Wendy Gruber.

Members were reminded to sign up for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, to be on Oct. 1 at Cleveland High School.

Alice Hamilton will purchase the March birthday cake for the Alzheimer’s unit at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab Center.
