Bradley County planner Corey Divel presented three rezoning requests to the commission. Two of the requests were to rezone property near Lauderdale Memorial Highway from agricultural to general commercial.
One of the locations is the future site of a Hardee’s Restaurant.
The third property, located on White Oak Valley Road, was to be rezoned from rural commercial to agricultural. Commissioners Connie Wilson and Ed Elkins placed the properties in their respective districts on the agenda.
The work session lasted approximately 10 minutes, and consisted mostly of announcements.
Commissioner Howard Thompson announced the Emergency Services Merger Task Force hoped to have a proposal for the commission for the next voting session.
Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis reminded finance committee members they need to decide the schedule for budget hearings at the next finance meeting. Wilson said they were already preparing for it. The next finance meeting is set for May 4.
Budget hearings will be held May 10 and 12. The hearings provide the department heads to explain their budget requests to the finance committee. Other commissioners are encouraged to attend, and the public is welcome. The finance committee will review the proposed budget and final amendments June 9.
