The event, Tribute to the Songs of Bill and Gloria Gaither, is being hosted by the Nashville Choir at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center at 7:30 p.m.
Bill and Gloria Gaither have been writing and performing music since 1967, winning eight Grammy Awards and more than two dozen Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
The students of Voices of Lee will be performing to recognize the musical contributions of Bill and Gloria Gaither on the same stage as the Gaither Vocal Band, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patty, Larnelle Harris, Buddy Greene, Russ Taff, Gordon Mote, Gary McSpadden, Sheila Walsh, Steve Green and The Isaacs, as well as the Nashville Choir.
“We’re being asked to do a set of songs of our own pre-concert,” Danny Murray, director of the Voices of Lee, said.
In addition to opening for the main event, Voices of Lee will be accompanying Michael W. Smith and the Nashville Choir for songs, said Murray.
The 15-member student a capella ensemble has been traveling from Cleveland to Nashville for rehearsals in preparation for the event.
“We’ve been preparing for two months,” Murray said.
This concert will not be the first time that the Voices of Lee will have performed with the Gaither Vocal Band.
“We perform a lot with the Gaithers,” Murray said, adding that the groups will also be performing together in Gatlinburg on Memorial Day.
Proceeds from Tribute to the Songs of Bill and Gloria Gaither will be donated to the Gospel Music Trust Fund and Hope for Nashville.
