Registration for Cleveland City Schools’ kindergarten programs will be held Friday, 1 to 3 p.m., at the school where the child is zoned.

Children must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30 to be eligible for kindergarten registration.

For registration, parents must bring a birth certificate or record of birth from a hospital, child’s social security card, recent physical (since Jan. 1) record, and proof of residency (rent receipt, utility bill, etc.)

Before entering school in August, the child must have an official birth certificate, a recent medical examination, and all immunizations recorded on the Tennessee Permanent Immunization Record.

These immunizations should included two MMRs, three hepatitis B, five DPT, four polio, two hepatitis A (effective July 2011), and two chicken pox vaccination. If the child has had chicken pox, you will need a letter verified by his/her along with the dates the child was affected.

Parents must register their child for kindergarten Friday for the child to have a place in the local zoned school.

It is not necessary to bring the child with you to kindergarten registration. If there are questions, call the elementary school where you are zoned.
