Joseph “Calvin” Rymer, 70, a resident of Cleveland, died on his birthday, Monday, May 2, 2011, and went home to celebrate with his Lord.

He was a member of Boanerges Baptist Church.

He retired from Hardwick Stove Co. after 25 years of employment.

He enjoyed his garden, bluegrass music and his fireworks business. The people he met through his business became his friends. He loved his three sons and they were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Marjorie Rymer; grandparents, Mike and Verlie Rymer and Samuel and Emma Holt; and brother, William Anderson Rymer.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Rymer, of Cleveland; children: Mark Rymer of Jacksonville, Fla.; Erik Rymer and Travis Rymer, both of Cleveland; siblings: Dale and Bernice Rymer, Mary and Buddy Cordell, R.L. and Kay Rymer, Hilda and Ray Williams, Percy and Brenda Rymer, Billy and Carolyn Rymer, Stella and Oscar Foster; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Tracy Fansler and Robert Rominger officiating.

Interment was at 10 a.m. today in Flint Springs Cemetery with Mike Rymer, James Rymer, Paul Rymer, Gene Rymer, Johnny Heifner and Ted Johnson serving as pallbearers.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
