Beaty, Willcutt will lead WVHS graduation

Commencement exercises at Walker Valley High School will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Sarah LaBeth Beaty and Jordan Willcutt will graduate as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Beaty is the daughter of James and Carol Beaty, and granddaughter of David and Virginia Rollins, and Varnell Beaty and the late Faye Beaty. She has a brother, Jesse.

During all four of her years at Walker Valley, Beaty was a member of the WVHS Mustang Band Color Guard, and also was a member of the Student Government Association, serving as a vice president her freshman, sophomore and senior years, and secretary her junior year.

She is a member of the Beta Club where she placed third in the Beta Club Convention’s Tennessee Oratory. Beaty is a member of the National Honor Society, Anchor Club, Drama Club, Spanish Club, Mu Alpha Theta and the choir.

She served as a 2010 delegate to Volunteer Girls State. She was second runner-up and interview winner in the Cleveland Junior Miss program. Beaty was a member of the Circle of Champions all four years. She is a Tennessee Scholar.

She was also involved in the production of “The Beauty and the Beast,” “The Seussical” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

Beaty plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Jordan is the son of Robert “Randy” and Susan Willcutt. He is the grandson of Faye Rollins, the late Jack Rollins, Patricia Willcutt and the late Clem Willcutt.

He has a brother, Jake.

Willcutt is graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He is a Gold Rymer Scholarship recipient at Lee University.

He is a Tennessee Scholar, Circle of Champions Scholar, member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.

He was a delegate to Tennessee Boys’ State and served on the Director of Schools’ Advisory Board for six years.

He has been a member of the WVHS tennis team for four years and has volunteered as a junior instructor in several camps in the Bradley County area.

He plans to major in math and education at Lee University.

Willcutt attends First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
