Founded on the precept of education, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority promotes and encourages high scholastic attainment. Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmark of the organization’ s programs and activities. Sigma Gamma Rho addresses concerns that impact society in education, civics and economics.
Fifty-four seniors from local high schools received certificates of recognition at the University of Tennessee. Recipients were selected based on their exceptional scholastic achievements, community service, and essay.
Scholarship recipients for 2011 are Christina Evans, Howard; Joshua King, Tyner Academy; Xaviera Danielle King, East Ridge; and Vinesha White, Middle College High School.
Seniors honored were Tanisha Caslin, Raysheequa Harper, Kelly Moore, Takidra Saxton, Kiara Trammell, Joshualyn Woods, Brainerd High School; Allison Case, Alexis Holman, Shaveda McLean; Chattanooga School for Arts and Science) Shaylan Allen and Payton Smith, Central High School; Ashley Atkins, Jerisha Caudle, Grovenia Perryman, Maresha Swopes, Emmalee White, Chattanooga School for Creative Arts; and Xaviera Danielle King, East Ridge High School.
