BASEBALL

BRADLEY BASEBALL CAMP

The Bradley Central Baseball Camp will be held May 31-June 3 at the McKenzie Baseball Complex. Players ages 5-12 are invited to to participate in the daily sessions at a cost of $75, which includes a camp t-shirt. Registration will be held the morning of May 31. In case of bad weather sessions will be held in the indoor hitting facility. For more information contact coach Travis Adams at 240-5882.

WALKER VALLEY CAMP

The annual Walker Valley Baseball Camp will be held May 31-June 3 at the Bradley County Recreation Park. With sessions running from 8-11 each morning the camp offers fundamental instruction for ages 5-12. The cost is $50 per camper with t-shirts provided for each camper. LEE BASEBALL CAMPS

On June 6-10, the Lee Flames will host Day School at Olympic Field. The school will be for ages 5-15 and will run from 9 a.m. until noon The cost will be $85 or $150 for brothers attending. Teams can also call for special rates. All sessions will be conducted by the Lee baseball staff and players. Fundamentals stressed include hitting, bunting, throwing and defense. Games will be played each day. Each participant receives a T-Shirt.

LEE SESSIONS CAMP

Lee University baseball coach Mark Brew will conduct a Baseball School Sessions Camp June 6-10 at Olympic Field from 9 a.m. til noon. The camp will be held for ages 5 through15. CSCC CAMPS

Cleveland State baseball coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer Baseball Camps: Youth Skills Camp, June 6-9 for ages 5-14. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to noon. Campers will participate in group instruction and participate in a game each day. Cost will be $70.00, which includes a camp t-shirt.

Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp, June 13-14,and a Youth Hitting Camp, June 15-16, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. Both camps will be for ages 8-16. The camps will consist of advanced instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, catching and hitting. Cost will be $40.00 per session, or $70.00 for both sessions, which includes a camp t-shirt.

BRANDON TURNER ADVANCED HITTING CAMP

Former Mississippi State All-American, Florida Marlin Minor Leaguer, and current Carson-Newman assistant Brandon Turner will be conducting an advanced hitting on June 6-7 and an advanced infield camp for ages 12-18 on June 8-9 from 9-11 a.m. at Walker Valley High School. This will be a very advanced and beneficial camps for young players covering every aspect of hitting and fieldings. The camps will only be accepting 30 players. CSCC TOURNAMENTS

Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments in June: 18-under June 10-12 — entry deadline is May 20; 15-under June 18, 19 — entry deadline is May 27; 14-under tournament, entry deadline is June 3. The 15-under tournament and 16-under tournament will be three (3) games pool play and championship. The cost is $350 and a six baseballs. The 18-under tournament will be four (4) games pool play and championship. The cost is $400 and a dozen baseballs. The 14-under and 13-under tournament will be three (3) games pool play and championship. The cost is $300 and six baseballs. LEE ADVANCED CAMP

On July 11-13 an advanced hitting, pitching and catching camp will be held at Olympic Field. Two sessions will be held with the first beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at noon. It will focus on hitting instructions. The second session will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. The camp stress pitching and catching and is for youngsters 8-17 years of age. The cost will be $55 for hitting instruction and $45 for pitching and catching. Campers can attend both sessions (morning and afternoon) for $90. BEARETTES CAMP

The Bradley Central High School Bearettes Basketball Camp will be held May 31-June 2 from 8:30 a.m. until noon in Jim Smiddy Arena at BCHS. The camp is open to ages 5-14 and will teach basic fundamentals. The camp will be instructed by Bearettes coaches Jason Reuter, Kyle Copeland, Katie Nelson and the Bearettes basketball team. The Cleveland Lady Raiders Basketball Camp will take place May 31-June 2 from 8 a.m. until noon. OMS CAMP

The Ocoee Middle School Shooting and Ball Handling Camp for girls and boys ages 6 and up will be held May 31-June 3 at OMS from 5 until 8 p.m. The cost of the camp is $50. The camp will cover the fundamentals of basketball and will be run by OMS coach Joe Spencer and assistants. All shots and shooting positions will be taught as well as ball handling. Free T-shirts will be given to all campers. Participants may register on the first day of camp.

MEIGS BOOSTERS TOURNAMENT

The Meigs County Boys Basketball Booster Club will be hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on June 4. The games will be held at Decatur City Park. All games will be half court. The entry fee is $100 per team and 4 players are allowed per team with a 3-game guarantee. The male groups will be sixth and seventh grade, eighth grade, high school, 19-35 Recreational division, 19-over competitive division and 35-over. The female groups will be sixth and seventh grade, eighth grade, high school and 19-up. The tournament is limited to the first 70 teams. The deadline to register is May 30. OMS TRYOUTS

An open gym for rising sixth-grade girls interested in trying out for the Ocoee Middle Lady Colts basketball team will be held May 23-25 from 5 until 7 p.m. Tryouts for the sixth-grade team will be held June 9, 11,13,14. Tryout times will be posted on the OMS website by June 1.

BEARS BASKETBALL CAMP

The 15th annual Bradley Central Bears basketball camp for ages 6-14 will run June 6-8 from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The camp, conducted by Bradley coaches Kent Smith and Chuck Clark, plus current and former Bears will cover basic fundamental of basketball. The cost is $50 per camper and includes a free T-shirt. HEART OF A CHAMPION

The Colby Stansberry Heart of a Champion Challenge 3-on-3 will be held June 11 at Cleveland Middle School. Warm up will begin at 8:30 a.m. Starting time for the Challenge will be at 9. There will be a live auction, silent auction and bake sale the day of the challenge. Admission is free and all proceeds go to the Colby Stansberry Scholarship Memorial Fund. Lee Univeristy men’s basketball coach Tommy Brown will be olding a pair of camps this summer at Walker Arena. The first will be a Mini Camp, June 13-15 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.at a cost of $85. The Mosby Park Waterdogs swim team will hold registration at the Cleveland Family YMCA on May 21 from 5-7 p.m. All new swimmers should bring swim suits and be prepared to get in the water between 6 and 7. The Waterdogs swim season starts the day after Memorial Day and runs through mid July. All registered swimmers receive free swim caps and goggles. Team swimsuits will be available for sizing.
