Bradley County officials responded to Love’s Truck Stop Thursday evening after officials discovered an “unusual or strange odor” and “flies” swarming an 18-wheeler’s cab.

Deputy Tommy Kimsey was dispatched to the truck stop off of Interstate 75 Exit 33 just after 7:30 p.m. and could not make his way into the truck.

According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Kimsey notified Bradley County Fire Rescue, who responded to the scene and forced entry into the cab.

Officials found a male deceased inside the cab.

The man’s cause of death is yet to be determined; however, Gault said initial investigation revealed “no obvious signs of foul play.”

Gault said today an autopsy is planned, according to Criminal Investigations Division detective Jody Musselwhite.

The age and identity of the man has not been released at this time. The man had been reported missing May 7.

Gault said the investigation is continuing.
