She with her husband owned and operated Coe’s Wrecker Service for more than 30 years.
She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved the outdoors including camping and fishing. She enjoyed cooking; sewing and she loved spending time with her family and being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She attended the Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Hattie Nation Scoggins and Amos Scoggins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Coe; granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Slaughter; sisters: Juanita Scoggins, Mamie Wooden and Dona Moore; and her brother, Flavis Scoggins.
Survivors include her daughters: Deborah Slaughter and her husband, Glenn, and Donna Gayle Coe, all of Cleveland; her grandchildren: Brittnee Slaughter, Gwendolyn Slaughter, Betsy Arrowood and her husband Patrick and Peyton Coe, all of Cleveland; her great-grandchildren, James Arrowood and Maggie Arrowood both of Cleveland; her sisters: Lena Shaw and her husband Robert of Collinsville, Va., Myrtle Wooden of Cleveland, Thelma Morgan and her husband Tom of Springhill, Fla., and Catherine Ledford and her husband Ed of Etowah; her brothers: Charles McBee and his wife, Mary, of Cleveland and Calvin McBee and his wife, Diann, of Clemons, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Larry Humbard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Patrick Arrowood, Tony Freeman, Joe Arrowood, Zack Arrowood, Jake Killebrew and Ronald A. Morgan serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
