Alma Dean Morrow Peals, 69, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011, in a local health care facility.

Dean was born Aug. 27, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Monroe County. She was the 11th child of the late Rev. William Lewis and Rosa Nicholson Marrow. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Lorena Pristas, Lucille White and Pearl Stewart; and her brothers: Luther “Buck” Marrow and Willard Morrow.

She attended Tellico Plains High School. She worked for close to 20 years at M&M Mars Co. as a security guard before leaving the company due to health reasons.

She was affectionately known to her family and friends as Little Dean, Aunt Dean or G-mother Dean.

She was a member of the Calhoun United Methodist Church but had been attending Cornerstone Church here in Cleveland.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Peals Moore and her husband, Charles William “Bill,” Moore of Etowah; her granddaughter, Rebecca Moore of Etowah; her sisters: Helen Yoder of Cleveland, Georgia “Kitty” Nichols of Hamlet, Ind.; and her brothers: Richard “Dick” Marrow of Portage, Ind., Guinn Marrow of Oak Ridge, and Sam “Herman” Morrow of Fultondale, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted today, May 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Herbert Conley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eleazar Cemetery in Monroe County with Jim, Danny, Charles and Billy Yoder, Steve Stewart and Lynn Freeman serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
