4-H conducts a variety of programs in Bradley County but one to which many history buffs look forward is the 4-H History Fair.

In 2010, the record was broken for the most exhibits completed, with 138. This year, 58 exhibits were completed by 86 participants even through it was held the weekend after school had been canceled for a week due to the April 27 tornadoes.

“This program promotes citizenship in our community and connects the past with the present,” said Kathryn Ervin, 4-H program assistant.

“It also helps teachers meet state educational standards and brings together youth, sponsors, and community members.”

Donors for this year’s event were the United Daughters of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis No. 900 Chapter, Bradley County Farm Bureau, Bradley County FCE Clubs, Sons of the American Revolution Benjamin Cleveland chapter, Wilma Goins and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2598, Kathryn Ervin, and Bradley Square Mall.

This year’s winner were as follows:

Sixth-Grade Individual Winners:

First Place — Audrina Perkinson

Second — Skylar Earls

Third— Monroe Hardin

Sixth-Grade Team Winners:

First Place — Bria Beachboard and Morgan Nalefski

Second Place — Holland Pierce, Cydney Black, Josie Morrow

ThirdPlace — Sarah and Jacob Stecz

Seventh-Grade Individual Winner:

First Place —Skylar Kelley

Eighth-Grade Team Winners:

First Place — Cala Chamberlin and Madeline Church

Ninth-Grade Individual Winners:

First Place — Spencer Earls

Second Place — Jennings Kelley

UDC Award —Gareth Miller

Most Creative Awards — Brooke Williams, Kali Howard, Molly Leonard, Nathan Zakkas, Gregg Wilson, and Zack Eslinger

Wilma Goins Award — Dillion Clark, Jordan Selby, Colton Landers, and Jeremiah Harper
