He was a member of Chestuee Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Clyde Silvers; his wife, Margarett Mozelle Silvers; and brothers, Thomas Silvers and Austin Silvers.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law: Samuel and Niecey Silvers, Jimmy and Linda Silvers, Paul Silvers, Jonathan and Cynthia Silvers, all of Old Fort; grandchildren: Jason, Samuel, Gordon, Steven, Jamie, Adam, Visha, Jacob, and Alex Silvers; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Courtney and Luke; brothers and sisters-in-law: Terry and Brenda Silvers, Charles and Evett Silvers, Steve and Janet Silvers, all of Old Fort; sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and C.L. Murray, Janice and Doug Matthew, all of Cleveland; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The funeral to celebrate the life of James will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth, Ga., with the Rev. Gerald Fowler and the Rev. Roger Steep officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Sumach Cemetery located in Cisco, Ga.
