He was a resident of Memphis for most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Nelson and Norma Costlow; and his brother, Johnny Nelson.
Survivors include his sons: Justin (Christy) Nelson of Murfreesboro and Chris Nelson of LaVergne; daughters: Staci Nelson of Mantachie, Miss., Shelia (Chris) Thompson of Memphis, and Stephanie (Terry) Ledlow of Mantachie, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at New Church Memphis, 4917 Macon Road, Memphis, TN 38122
