The 4-H office announced their 2011 Summer Schedule in May and youth across Bradley County have been busy signing up for camps. There are two day camps that are still open and one overnight camp for youth.

Fun at Home Day Camp: This day camp will focus on educating youth about fashion and design, nutrition and cooking, and making crafts. Fun at Home will be held July 14-16, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Youth in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades are invited to attend this camp. The cost for the camp is $25 per person and the deadline to register is July 1.

Garden Grown Day Camp: This day camp will focus on educating youth about getting food from the seed to the dining table, making crafts, and encouraging physical activity and social interaction.

Garden Grown will be held July 18-21, from 8 to 11 a.m. Youth in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades are invited to attend this camp. The cost for the camp is $30 per person and the deadline to register is Monday, July 11. The camp is limited to 15 individuals and must have seven youth to conduct it.

Junior Heritage Skills Camp: This two-day, one-night camp will be held in Benton on July 28-29. This camp focuses on what it was like to live in the “pioneer days.”

Youth attending will swim, learn new crafts, participate in outdoor cooking, and play lots of games. Youth in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades are invited to attend this camp. The cost is $55 per person and the deadline to register is July 1.

Participation is limited and registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
