Greenway great asset to users, but post rules

To The Editor:

The [Cleveland-Bradley County] Greenway Trail is a special section of our city where bikers, walkers and strollers can safely exercise in a lovely setting. However, rules should be posted at the beginning and end of the trail.

Often, I’ve encountered runners wearing ear buds running on the left side with no intention of giving way [to oncoming walkers or others]. When did the “left” side become the “right” side? As in traffic, rules should state “to stay on the right.”

Also, it is courteous when approaching from the rear for bikers or skaters to call out, “passing on your left.”

Children should be taught that bikes are not supposed to take up the entire walk (trail), but must stay in a line on the right. I shuddered recently as a child biker, not paying attention, almost ran into a woman jogging on the left.

Let’s get some courtesy rules up and abide by them so the trail can be used safely for all.
