Bettie Joe Stinnett Harvey Kaylor, 82, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in a local hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 16, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Hattie Bell Mullinax Stinnett and Julius Stinnett. She was preceded in deathy by her husbands: Carlos Harvey, father of her beloved children, and retired serviceman Ronald Kaylor; son, Michael Edward Harvey; brothers: Henry, Max and Delmar Stinnett; and her sisters: Neecie Stinnett, Geren Sprouse, and Frances Stinnett Blackwell.

She retired from Cleveland Community Hospital after a long career in the nursing profession, having worked in military hospitals both stateside and overseas. She and her husband traveled extensively during his service to our country and enjoyed their retirement, serving as foster parents and receiving the Bradley County Foster Parents of the Year Award.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where for many years she was active in the United Methodist Women’s group and was recognized for her dedication to its missionaries and local mission work.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Harvey Elder Gregg; granddaughters: Melanie Elder Stepp and her husband, Dale, Miranda Harvey Cheatham and her husband, James “Tooter,” and Tiffany Elder Goode; great-grandchildren: Jade and Jeris Cheatham, Savannah Elder, Cash Goode and Victoria “Tori” Stepp; sister, Virginia Elliff; sister-in-law, Betty Stinnett: brother-in-law, Bo Blackwell; special nieces: Mitzi Thompson and Misty Daniels; nephews: Gary Elliff, Tim Stinnett, Rodney Blackwell and Don Geren; and her foster children: Brian, Joshua, Ashley and Aaron.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Tim Paul officiating.

A graveside service and Interment will be held privately for the family at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randall Elder, James Cheatham, Dale Stepp, Gary Elliff, Kevin Bishop and Mark Moore.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
