He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was of the Episcopal faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sivey Brush Sr. and Thelma Maxom Brush; and one brother, Basil E. Brush.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Mark Holcomb of Cleveland; and grandchildren, Aaron Matthew Holcomb, Jarred Daniel Holcomb, and Philip Benjamin Holcomb.
The family requests that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.
