Laureate Zeta of Beta Sigma Phi had its June meeting in the home of Brenda Eckard. A salad supper was enjoyed prior to business being conducted.

Acting President Nancy Ogle led the opening ritual. Roll call was held with 13 members present. Recording secretary Linda Wheeler read the May 2011 minutes and Annie Laura Breaux presented the treasurer’s report and the year-end balance sheet.

There was no report from City Council, since meetings are suspended for the summer.

Members were given another opportunity to respond to any vacancies in the 2011-12 yearbook schedules and to update their roster information, including cell phone numbers. These sign-up sheets will again be available at the July meeting. Wheeler will present the 2011-12 yearbooks at the September meeting, so it is important to report all changes in writing prior to August.

Correspondence secretary Betty Eidson read a note from Brenda Chambers thanking members for support and concern during her recent illness.

Secret Sister information sheets were completed and given to Nancy Ogle, who will give them to Vice President Fleeta Millard. She will mail this information to the matching Secret Sister as soon as possible.

Eckard reported the club’s donations of supplies for tornado victims given to the Salvation Army and Red Cross were very much needed and appreciated.

Nancy Ogle reminded everyone of upcoming anniversaries for Eidson on June 20 and Sue Ogle on June 24. Cathy Norwood will celebrate her birthday July 9.

The next meeting will be at the home of Sue Ogle. Members bringing salads are Verdonna Mikel, Eidson, Doris Johnson and Nancy Ogle. As a courtesy, members are encouraged to contact Sue concerning their attendance.

Nancy Ogle led the chapter in the closing ritual, and Eidson won the drawing for the door prize. Everyone enjoyed a variety of desserts and the fellowship.

Others attending were Vickie Beaty, Judy Johnson, Cathy Norwood, Kathy Quinnett and Lea Stuart.
