Robert Greenfield Headrick, 78, of Georgetown, died early Tuesday morning while paramedics were transporting him to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga from SkyRidge Medical Center, according to reports.
Authorities said he died approximately 10 hours after he was involved in a two-vehicle wreck. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Freewill Road and Georgetown Drive.
Glen Wayne Towns, 55, was driving a Chevrolet HHR northbound on Freewill Road when he reportedly collided with Headrick’s Buick Regal.
Towns received minor injuries in the crash.
According to Gault, Headrick was taken to SkyRidge Medical Center for treatment. Gault said early Tuesday morning, paramedics were transporting Headrick to Erlanger Medical Center for further treatment and he passed away while en route.
Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit deputies are in charge of the crash investigation.
Gault said Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to the same intersection around 7 p.m. to investigate a minor crash.
THP is still investigating the cause of a crash which took the life of a 20-year-old Cleveland woman less than a week ago.
Lacey C. Allen died after her 2006 Pontiac crashed near Exit 33 on Interstate 75.
Headrick’s death Tuesday brings Bradley County’s traffic-related fatality count to four during 2011.
