A simple assault charge brought against Bradley County Commissioner Jeff Yarber was dismissed and his record expunged in Bradley County General Sessions Court this week.

Gerald S. Kirkland brought the charge June 13, alleging Yarber approached him, grabbed his Bluetooth headset and injured his ear.

“Justice has been served,” Yarber said Wednesday.

Yarber alleged Kirkland had been making harassing phone calls to his wife.

Kirkland stated in his original affidavit Yarber had passed him in his car, turned the vehicle around and followed Kirkland to his home.

“I am glad the charges have been dismissed. Justice was served and the charge was expunged,” Yarber said.

Paperwork regarding the dismissal judgment was not available.

Bradley County Court Clerk’s office officials could not comment on any paperwork other than saying none existed which means the charge has already been expunged.

“Now it’s time to put this behind us and move forward,” Yarber said.
