She was the daughter of the late, Della Mae Jarrett Elrod and Walton V. Elrod. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Earl Laughter; sons: Jack Laughter and Virgil Dewitt Laughter; grandsons: the Rev. Jeff Bentley and Little Virgil Laughter; brothers: Orion Elrod and H.C. Elrod; and sisters: Anna Mae Howell and Nora Lewis.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Evonne Bentley and her husband, Bill, of Cleveland: granddaughters: Tina Thomas of Cleveland, Stacy Laughter of Lincoln, Neb. and Lisa Bentley of Lenior City; grandsons: Jason Bentley of Cleveland and Mike Laughter of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy Elrod and his wife, Joyce, of Cleveland; special nephew, Eddie Elrod of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and one special dog named Petey.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Joel Jenkins officiating. Robert Banks, Eddie Earwood, Jason Bentley, Q.A. Williams, Allen Young and Danny Stinnett served as pallbearers.
The Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes, was in charge of arrangements.
