He was a charter member of Northside Presbyterian Church.
He was in the wrecker industry for more than 30 years, retiring from Miller Industries, where he served as purchasing manager. He previously worked at Burlington Industries.
He was a charter member of the Ocoee Beekeepers Association. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from Bradley Central High School.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynn Webb Emrey; and his parents, Marion Lawrence Candler Emrey and William G. Emrey Sr.
Survivors include two sons: William G. “Bill” Emrey III and his wife, Lori, of Ooltewah and John A. Emrey and his wife, Angel, of Athens; daughter, Karen Emrey Collins and her husband, Jon, of Cleveland; six grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Emrey, William G. Emrey IV, Alexis G. Emrey, Preston J. Emrey, James Herman Collins, and Katelynn Jewell Collins; brother, Milton C. Emrey of Cumming, Ga.; brother-in- law, John P. Webb and his wife, Linda, of Townsend; several nephews; and one niece.
The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, July 19, 2011, at Northside Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Heidi Johnson officiating.
Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend.
The family will receive friends TIday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
