Investigators believe the shooting to be a case of domestic violence.
According to Evie West, public information and training officer for Cleveland Police Department, officers and detectives responded to 147 Douglas Circle to begin an investigation.
Amanda Barnette, 25, had reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to her arm and chest, according to Lt. Mark Gibson of the Persons Crime Division of CPD.
Officers were notified of the shooting after the victim was taken by private vehicle to SkyRidge Medical Center for treatment.
Barnette was later transferred to Erlanger Medical Center for further treatment.
Detectives arrived on the scene at the Douglas Circle residence to collect evidence.
William Patrick Barnette was reportedly struggling with Amanda Barnette when the weapon discharged and a bullet entered her arm, then traveled into her chest, according to Gibson.
Investigators believe the couple had been struggling with the weapon, according to witness reports and Gibson’s statement.
No charges have been filed in the shooting pending outcome of the investigation.
