LaDonna Gatlin knows firsthand that we can’t live someone else’s dream ... that in order to be our absolute best, we must find our own voice and “sing our own song” — and she is coming to Cleveland to share her entertaining message.

The fifth anniversary of Healthy Woman, a program of SkyRidge Medical Center, will take place Sept. 8, at First Baptist Church on Stuart Road with LaDonna Gatlin as keynote speaker.

The anniversary will kick off with a Women’s Expo from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Gatlin will speak at 7 that evening.

“Because of the continued great response over the years,” explained Ann Marie Brewer, director of community relations for SkyRidge Medical Center, “this year’s Expo and anniversary celebration have been moved to First Baptist, which has a seating capacity of 1,400. The evening will feature heavy hors d’oeuvers and theater-style seating instead of a full meal function.”

Gatlin literally grew up on stage singing with her brothers — the legendary Gatlin Brothers. In the early 1970s the Gatlins took their family harmony to Nashville. But a detour appeared on the road to stardom ... LaDonna got married. At this defining moment, she realized that success for her could be measured in a different way. So she took a giant leap of faith, chose to follow her heart, and “sing a different song” apart from her brothers.

She has spent her entire career empowering people to “sing their own song” as well — from the inside out — through their words, their deeds, and their actions.

A seasoned professional, Gatlin has shared her message everywhere from corporate powerhouses to the prison cells of death row. She truly speaks from the heart with stories that are the stuff of life, driving home commonsensical wisdom for everyday living in the process. Her presentations educate, inspire and entertain and are an unforgettable experience for her audiences.

Gatlin is an active member of the National Speakers Association, and has earned its highest professional designation, the Certified Speaking Professional.

In July 2005, she was one of five speakers (and the only woman) inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame (CPAE Council of Peers Award for Excellence), a lifetime award for speaking excellence and professionalism. She has recorded four solo CD’s and is a contributing writer to the best-selling book series “Chicken Soup for the Soul.”

Ticket price of $15 will include admission to the expo, heavy hors d’oeuvres and theater-type seating. Tickets must be purchased in advance by Aug. 22. Participants must have a ticket for admission.

Tickets are available at SkyRidge Medical Center’s main campus, cashier’s desk; Red Ribbon; Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce; and SkyRidge’s Outpatient Therapy desk at The Y.

Started in September 2006, Healthy Woman is a free community resource designed to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Monthly events are held throughout the community during the year.
