He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tennga and Sumach Masonic Lodge No. 55 F.&A.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Mildred Turvey Higdon; brother, Benny G. Higdon; and brother-in-law, Luther Hammontree.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sue Shields Higdon, of Tennga; sons and daughters-in-law: Steven Dean and Sandy Higdon of Resaca, Ga., and William Allen and Lois Higdon of Old Fort; daughter, Constance “Connie” Deloris Rombold of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Diane Higdon of Memphis; sisters and brother-in-law: Betty Hammontree of Cisco, Ga., and Lynn and Selwyn Cochran of Chatsworth, Ga.; grandchildren: Joshua Higdon, Jacob Higdon, Rebekah Rombold, Chris Ratcliff, Stanton Higdon, and Stacie Beach; great-grandchildren: Jackson Higdon, Drake Beach, Mason Higdon, and Maddox Higdon; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 24, 2011, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth, Ga., with the Revs. Lee Ingram, Randall Headrick and Isaac Johns officiating.
Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Tennga.
